An 'Alien' Invades Midnight Madness
Landmark Theatres continues its October Midnight Madness schedule October 17 & 18 with “Alien," the 1979 Ridley Scott Sci-Fi blockbuster and scream fest. Sigourney Weaver stars as Ellen Ripley, warrant officer for the space ship Nostromo. The ship is on its way back to Earth when it receives a distress call from a nearby planet.
The Nostromo stops at the small planet to investigate what happened. During the search, a crew member finds eggs and is attacked by one of the creatures in the egg. The crew is unaware that a super alien has taken over the crew member and is now on the Nostromo. It’s up to the crew to find out what’s going on and to try to kill the alien. Will Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) get the Nostromo back to Earth? And, why are Ripley’s decisions blocked by another crew member?
The film’s visual effects are superb (they won an Academy Award) and soundtrack will leave anyone’s heart racing and on the edge of the seat. The cast is first-rate and it’s the movie that made Sigourney Weaver a household name. Ellen Ripley may be the most popular action heroine out there.
There are three other Alien films, but the original is by far the best and the gold standard of a perfect Sci-Fi thriller. Gather a group of friends and get thoroughly freaked out at the midnight showing of “Alien” at Landmark Theatres at Midnight on October 17 & 18.
