"Batman vs. Superman" has found its Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot (the "Fast and Furious" films) has been cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel, according to a story in Variety.
Gadot has long been rumored to be playing the character, though Wonder Woman's appearance in the film altogether has never been considered more than a rumor itself.
Wonder Woman's appearance on the big screen has certainly been long-awaited and hotly contested, with projects ranging from solo films to TV series being on-and-off affairs for many years now. Speculation has run wild that the super sequel, informally called "Batman Vs. Superman," would star additional members of the Justice League.
David E. Kelley's 2011 TV pilot starred Adrienne Palicki (TV's "Friday Night Lights," "G.I. Joe: Retaliation") as Wonder Woman, but the pilot never made it to series. Wonder Woman feature films have been long-gestating, with comic book veteran Joss Whedon ("The Avengers") at one point tapped to direct and write, but all have ended fruitlessly.
Gadot has also appeared in "Knight and Day," "Date Night" and an episode of "Entourage."
Other actors previously rumored for the part include Jaimie Alexander ("Thor"), Olga Kurylenko ("Quantum of Solace") and Gina Carano ("Haywire").
