Chocolate City
"Magic Mike" with a little chocolate. That's not only how I would describe the movie, but that's how even the movie describes the movie in the opening scene. This isn't the only reference to "Magic Mike," so yes "Chocolate City" is a "Magic Mike" ripoff and "Chocolate City" knows it. Still, there are a lot of good and original parts to this ripoff.
The movie does a good job at explaining why Michael (Robert Ri'chard) decides to become an exotic male dancer at Chocolate City. Michael is a college student who still lives with his mother Katherine (Vivica A. Fox) and brother Chris (DeRay Davis). Katherine is having financial problems. And to make matters worse, Chris won't get a job. Michael flips burgers in addition to being a student so that doesn't really help things either. So when the owner of Chocolate City offers him a job, he eventually decides that it's an offer he can't refuse.
The movie does have good one-liners and very realistic performances, but ladies, let's be honest: The only reason we go see a movie like this is because of the view. Said view is really good and will pretty much make you forget about everything else.
The bottom line is that it's a guilty pleasure movie that even your good side will enjoy.
The DVD comes with a hilarious blooper reel that shows the actors had as much fun making the movie as you will watching it. Film:: 3 Yaps Extras: 5 Yaps
