Mark (Ricky Gervais) isn't the world's most revered man by any means. That is, until he realizes that in that world, where everyone tells the absolute truth, he has discovered the ability to lie. Capitalizing on those lies, Mark's life begins to change and people believe everything he has to say. He's rich, he's famous and though he hasn't convinced the woman he loves, Anna (Jennifer Garner), to love him back. Still, his lies don't mean his life is changing for the better and soon enough Mark's life begins to spin as wildly as his own misleadings.

Where one might believe no danger would dare to tread, in the frigid and bitterly cold Antarctica, a U.S. Marshall, Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) has been sent for to investigate the first homicide to take place on the continent. The search for the killer becomes even more dangerous as the mystery thickens and what Stetko discovers is that she has a bigger mission on her hands than she might have believed.
