Ellen Page, Drew Barrymore and Kristin Wiig lead a charming cast in Barrymore's directorial debut. Bliss Cavendar (Page) is a perfectly out of place in her small Texas town when she discovers a world where there's more to life than beauty pageants and fitting in. Cavendar finds her tribe on the local roller derby circuit but finds the road to finding oneself isn't always a smooth run. Barrymore does a good job manning the camera and turns from Wiig, Eve and Ari Gaynor as well as Marcia Gay Harden make "Whip it " round out a delightful film.

Based on a true story, Clive Owen stars in this film as Joe, a widower struggling to find a new sense of solace in life as he tries to find his footing as a single father. As his son Artie, struggles with his own way of grieving, Joe welcomes Harry, his teenage son into his home with a desire to reconnect and become a family. Together, the three boys look for a way back to life again.
