Tales of Alzheimer’s is always a difficult subject to film and watch. Echoes is no exception as we follow a wife who is seeing her husband experience early stages of the disease. Instead of focusing on loss and grief, the short examines other aspects of living with someone with Alzheimer’s.
There is a certain care directed towards living in fear and trying to still be intimate with the person you love. There are solid performances by the two leads, but I do wish there weren’t as many lingering shots on their faces. I think they are more ways to convey these feelings. The ending does not offer resolution but hints at what is to come. This was definitely well made.
