Experience 'The Exorcist' at Midnight Madness
Landmark Theatres continues its October Midnight Madness schedule October 24 & 25 with “The Exorcist," the 1973 William Friedkin horror film staring Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow and Linda Blair. "The Exorcist" (based on the novel by William Peter Blatty) is ranked number 3 out of 100 on American Film Institute's 100 Most Thrilling American Films.
Ellen Burstyn stars as Chris MacNeil, an actress and mother desperately seeking the help of Father Karras (Jason Miller) after her teenage daughter, Regan's (Linda Blair) personality changes completely (a 360!) after she plays with a Ouija board. Regan swears, physically attacks people and may be responsible for an unexplained death. What's the explanation? It turns out Regan is possessed by a demon named Pazuzu.
Father Karras requests the help of Father Merrin (Max von Sydow) to perform an exorcism on Regan and save her life. The scenes with Pazuzu (demon) and Father Karras and Father Merrin are some of the most famous scenes in horror cinema.
How about a bit of trivia? The voice of Pazuzu (the demon) is actress Mercedes McCambridge ("All The Kings Men", "Giant").
Gather a group of friends and get thoroughly creeped out at the midnight showing of the Academy Award-winning film (Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound), “The Exorcist" at Landmark Theatres at Midnight on October 24 & 25.
