Free State of Jones Poster shows Matthew staring down slavery

If you're a Civil War movie buff, then do we have good news for you.

Matthew Mcconaughey is stepping back in time to play Newt Knight, a real person who fought against slavery in the Civil War by founding the Free State of Jones in Jones County, Mississippi.

And thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we can show you what the official poster for Free State of Jones looks like, complete with Matthew's slavery fighting game on face.

Keri Russell will be wife number one, Serena.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be Newt's second better half, Rachel, who used to be a slave.

Free State of Jones comes to a theater near you on May 13th.
