'Independence Day: Resurgence' deals with bigger alien threat

Well, it's 20 years later and Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are still fighting aliens in "Independence Day: Resurgence."

Apparently, right before mankind took out the aliens that were trying to kill everyone last time, the aliens sent out a SOS. And other species are just now responding to that call.

But at least they planned for this possibility by figuring out a way to use the aliens' own weapons against them.

Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin also came back to write the sequel.

Unfortunately, Will Smith will not be back to help in the fight against aliens.

It makes sense though, if you think about it, he's fought enough aliens in his career already.

"Independence Day: Resurgence" will open at a theater near you on June 24, 2016.
