Jason Statham set for another rollercoaster year in Hollywood
He rose to fame as a lovable cockney wide boy in Guy Ritchie’s gritty London gangster films, but now he’s become an international superstar in his own right, with a string of supermodel girlfriends under his belt.
With such a full schedule, we’re certainly in for a treat over the next 12 months. Here’s a sneak preview of some of the Jason Statham flicks you can expect for 2014-15.
Fast & Furious 7
The seventh installment in the Fast & Furious series is tinged with sadness following the untimely death of star Paul Walker, but there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be as exciting as the other six in the series. This time round, Statham’s Ian Shaw seeks revenge against the evil Dominic Toretto and his wheeling, dealing crew for the death of his brother. Expect a very angry Statham.
The Expendables 3
Statham seems to be a fan of starring in sequels, having starred in both "The Expendables" 1 and 2 as Lee Christmas. Along with a stellar cast including Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Statham is back again as Christmas in the third installment of the successful series which first hit our screens in 2010. This time around, the gang of CIA agents’ task is to take on arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks, the team's original co-founder, who has made it his mission to destroy the team. According to reports, Statham came close to real life danger while filming this sequel.
Wild Card
It seems that Mr. Statham has a soft spot for movies which involve heists and casinos. His latest role combines a beautiful Hollywood combination of both. Known to some international audiences as "Heat," Wild Card will see Statham stepping into the shoes of Nick Wild, a recovering gambling addict who takes the opportunity to leave the casino and find work protecting his friends.
Mechanic 2
Did somebody say something about a sequel? This one is still in pre-production so any news on potential storylines is under lock and key, but if it’s anything like the 2011 original, it should be a hit. Back in 2011, Statham was again stepping into the shoes of somebody you wouldn’t want to be caught in a dark alley with – a hit man, Arthur Bishop. His task back then was to teach an apprentice the tricks of his trade, so perhaps this time around the apprentice will become the sorcerer. Watch this space.
