Jersey Boys Actor Mike Doyle's Stardom on the Rise
Soon-to-be-household name Mike Doyle has been in the industry since the early '90s. His journey has been one that every hardworking actor hopes to have. He's slowly worked his way up from spots in after-school specials to a major role in his latest project, Clint Eastwood's "Jersey Boys."
But Doyle's path to a role in a major film was far from uneventful. Capitol File reported that Doyle was once more interested in politics than acting. He graduated from Georgetown with a degree in economics and even interned on the Hill.
A few years after college, however, he decided he wanted to follow his other passion: acting. Once he decided to pursue the new career full-time, he began his road toward stardom.
He was featured in episodes of hit shows such as "ER" and "Sex and the City." He was also featured in HBO's hit drama "Oz" in a role that was extremely dark and far outside of anything he had done before. Doyle played a homophobic racist who was sentenced to prison after being convicted of rape. Doyle, who usually plays a charismatic and goofy guy, pulled off the character brilliantly.
From 2011 to 2012, he had a major role in the short-lived fantasy drama "A Gifted Man," and from 2002 to 2009, he had a recurring role as forensics tech Ryan O'Halloran on "Law and Order: SVU," where he appeared in over 50 episodes.
While a lot of his roles have forced him to become raw and exposed as an actor, there were none perhaps more so than one he took on in 2008. Doyle played the two roles in Paul Rudnick's off-Broadway play "The New Century." One of them required to him to appear on stage, completely nude, with only one "accessory": a cock ring. According to Adam & Eve, this device can apparently "boost his girth and length" by constricting blood flow. Interesting. However, that didn't make Doyle's presentation any less impressive when he ran out on stage wearing nothing but ... the cock ring.
Billy Masters reported on the incident, believing it was the first time that a cock ring was officially used in a major play. Will it be the last? Who knows, but we do know that the crowd definitely got an eyeful (and then some) of all of Doyle's, erm, talents.
Obviously the sky's the limit for this talented, uninhibited actor. Aside from his portrayal of Bob Crewe in "Jersey Boys," IMDb says he has several other projects in the works for 2014 and 2015. Hopefully that means that we'll see even more of this gorgeous guy in the near future.
