"Midnight Madness runs "Lebowski"
Landmark Theatres continues its Midnight Madness series with the 1998 cult classic, "The Big Lebowski." This Coen brothers film stars Jeff Bridges as Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski, who lives by his own rules (he's unemployed), enjoys White Russians, bowling and Credence Clearwater Revival. Dude and his routine are thrown for a loop when thugs attempting to recover a debt, mistake Dude for the wrong Jeffrey Lebowski (a millionaire). Dude meets the millionaire Lebowski and later agrees to act as courier and deliver a briefcase. Of course there's a lot more to the plot, including kidnapping and Dude attempting to stay out of the fray (and not get killed). Throughout Dude's journey he's helped by his bowling buddies Walter and Donny (John Goodman and Steve Buscemi) and there are interesting and unusual characters at every turn. "The Big Lebowski" is part comedy and crime caper all rolled up into one (kinda like the rug Dude loves) with a knockout cast and a stellar soundtrack.
For all those "The Big Lebowski" fans out there and newbies, read Film Yapper, Joe Shearer's take on which is the better bowling film with Cinema SmackDown!: "Kingpin" vs. "The Big Lebowski."
Celebrate the Dude or El Duderino with a White Russian (or a "Caucasian" as he calls 'em) at "The Big Lebowski" at Landmark Theatres at midnight on June 13 & 14.
