Midnight Madness Runs "The Shining"
Landmark Theatres begins its October Midnight Madness series with the 1980 horror classic, "The Shining." This Stanley Kubrick film (based on the Steven King novel) stars Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance, a writer and recovering alcoholic who accepts a job as the winter caretaker of the remote Overlook Hotel. Torrance accepts the job knowing the bad vibes about the place. A previous caretaker at the Overlook Hotel cracked up from cabin fever, murdered his family and then killed himself.
Torrance takes the job as an opportunity to start fresh with wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and their young son, Danny (Danny Lloyd).
It's not too long after they arrive at the Overlook when strange things start happening and evil is lurking around every corner. Danny, a psychic, knows that things are not right at the Overlook Hotel. There's also Room 237, spooky twin sisters and creepy Lloyd, the bartender. Who can forget classic lines like, "Here's Johnny!"?
Grab a group of friends and get your fright on at "The Shining" at Landmark Theatres at midnight on October 3 & 4.
