My Critics Choice Ballot (2024)
As a member of the broadcast critics group, Christopher Lloyd reveals his votes for the awards to be broadcast Sunday at 7 p.m.
In addition to the Indiana Film Journalists Association, I’m proud to be a member of the Critics Choice Association. As the accredited group for broadcast movie critics, we will present our annual awards this Sunday. Tune in at 7 p.m. on The CW Network.
Both groups, I think, are thoughtful and often bold in their awards, selecting nominees and winners based on merit rather than just what’s popular. The IFJA went all-in on “Poor Things” in their awards announced last month. I’m thinking the CCA may go another way.
In recent years I’ve made it a practice to share my CCA ballot for all to see. It gives you some insight into one member’s thinking. Feel free to offer your pushback on who I voted for or who you would have voted for.
The big caveat: I can only vote for the listed nominees, so in some cases my favorite didn’t make the cut and I go with what I deem the most deserving candidate available.
