Reese Witherspoon to make Barbie-inventor movie

Everyone knows Barbie.

But not everyone knows how Barbie began her journey to becoming one of the world's most iconic toys.

Well, thanks to Reese Witherspoon and friends, you're about to find out.

Witherspoon's company, Pacific Standard, is collaborating with Bold Films to tell us the story of how Barbie creator Ruth Handler came up with her life-changing idea and what she went through afterward.

The movie will get its material from the book "Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World's Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her."

The crew also wants Witherspoon to play Ruth in the movie.
