Spider-Man: Far From Home Early Reactions from Critics
By Mario Petkovsky
There is no doubt that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has changed the landscape of filmmaking a lot. The crossover between movies has become Marvel’s signature dish that large blockbusters try to follow. Their latest movie is Spider-Man: Far From Home and it won’t be out in theaters until July 2, but carefully picked media people, as well as critics, had the chance to see the movie early.
Marvel revealed that the movie will be 129 minutes long and coincidentally when you add up all their movies it comes at 3,000 minutes. Marvel fans all over the world, have noticed this strange coincidence and they believe that it’s a direct reference to Tony Stark’s fate in Endgame and the most popular line of the movie “I Love You 3,000”.
Even though there are few days left before the big premiere, critics shared their opinions about the movie on social media. Judging by their comments they all seem to be impressed by it, pointing out that something extraordinary will happen at the end that will make fans flip out. All the Marvel enthusiasts are very excited about the new Spider-Man movie and have big expectations.
The movie takes action after Avengers: Endgame and Peter is left without Tony Stark. He is going on a European trip with his classmates. As the trailer shows, he wants to leave Spider-Man suit behind and take a break from all the action. Of course, that does not happen as he will be dragged into world-saving stuff again.
The trailer also introduces a new character to Marvel Movies, but not so new when it comes to comics. Mysterio played by Jake Gyllenhaal will be joining Spider-Man in the action all across Europe. This character appeared many times in Spider-Man cartoons and video games. The story behind Mysterio is that he is a special effects wizard and stunt man working for Hollywood studio, which has a dream to build a name for himself.
However, he quickly realizes that it is a dead-end job and with his expertise in illusions he can become an effective criminal. Though, in the movie, we can see that is more of a good guy than he is described in the comics.
Nick Fury will be also joining Peter with the mentoring role, as he is part of the Avengers now and he seeks help from him to save the world. All the actors from the previous Spider-Man movies are here such as MJ (Zendaya Coleman), Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) which was Nick Fury’s assistant returning from the dead after Avengers Endgame.
The visual effects in the latest Spider-Man movie look stunning. It seems like Marvel wants to keep everything at a high level. The movie is also shot in beautiful locations such as New York City, Venice in Italy, Prague in Czech Republic, and London (UK).
It seems like the critics are very excited about this movie saying that it might be the best Spider-Man movie ever. They also pointed out that we should always watch Marvel movies after the credits and expect a lot of twists, and shocking endings.
As in any Marvel movie, we can expect extraordinary visuals followed by satisfying action from our favorite heroes. All Marvel movies are kept in secret until the premiere, so we do not know whether this movie is going to meet our expectations or not.
Maybe this movie has the potential to top up Avengers: Endgame who is just shy away from Avatar and becoming the highest grossing movie of all time. We will have to wait a couple of days to find out, though. Still, we can say that the possibility of Spiderman getting close to Endgame is as low as the New York Mets in the odds to win the World Series (by the way, do you know that SpiderMan is a Mets fan?).
