In this week's show, Joe and Chris yap about the history and influence of IMAX movies, which inherited the mantle of large-format film presentation from 70 mm, taking it a step further.
For the last two decades, IMAX films have tended to be educational-type documentaries, but in recent years more mainstream narrative films have played on IMAX screens. There's also been a proliferation of so-called "fake IMAX" theaters at regular multiplexes, which people feel are charging a premium price for an experience that pales in comparison to the real deal.
