The Little Things That Make James Bond Seem Suave
Bond, James Bond. He doesn’t just act smooth, suave and sophisticate he truly embodies it and it seems as though it comes naturally to him. There are very few characters that have the suave appeal that James bond entices us with both on screen and on page; it perhaps is not solely down to his style but like most things down to the little things that have made 007 the ultimate cool stylish icon.
Dress To Kill
Although not the only reason why Bond is so suave, his looks, confidence and smart dress sense definitely enables him to look and feel the part. Bond is famous for his suits, but not just any suit a really good and well fitted suit. Many of us, of course dress up on special occasions but Bond dresses up all the time, and if you feel confident you look it. Bond is never seen in colours and there is a reason for that, clothes should never dress the man. Sticking to shades and hues of blacks, greys, whites and blues although this may seem like a small detail it enables Bond’s striking personality to say it all.
Sleight Of Hand
As well as looking the part he is prepared for anything, Bond knows that the way he acts and dresses is all in the detail. Obviously there is no confusion that James Bond is a spy and has to be prepared for anything, the vast majority of his investigation work means that he must look the part for anything; this enables him to be dressed no matter the event or occasion which is normally a casino. Casinos have very strict dress codes so Bond who is also quite the professional gambler fits the bill when it comes to attending casinos.
James Bond’s game of choice is typically poker; he is able to win rounds as he performs card tricks and has a great sleight of hand. In Casino Royale Bond has a straight flush and pushes it all in and takes a pot worth over 100 million dollars, which has never been pushed across a table in real life gambling. Poker is a game that is difficult to be a master at, but James Bond is definitely prepared for the situation due to his sleight of hand, calculated thinking and his ability to keep cool.
Keep Collected
In each film and each book that Ian Fleming wrote, Bond shows us that he is able to keep cool under pressure even in the most life threatening situations. Part of being able to deal with stressful situations is being prepared for them, which Bond is able to do as he has past training and vast experience. This small detail of being able to keep collected is another reason why Bond comes across as suave as it is something that most people are incapable of doing.
Knowing Opposition
Bond never enters anything without knowing all details of his enemy. Not just who they are but how they think. This may be a villain or just his opposition in a poker tournament. In a poker tournament if you are able to know your opponent and the way they think you will be able to call their bluff and even have a rough idea of reading their hand. Regardless of who your opposition may be Bond never goes into anything without knowledge on his opponents and that is why he is able to defeat them at every turn.
Dominate Technology
Bond is a character that doesn’t just look the part; he has a cool collected personality, is highly intelligent and he keeps up with the times and has all the latest gadgets and technology. Yet he isn’t obsessed with technology he uses it when he needs it, as to him technology is a great asset nothing more. All these small things enable Bond to be the ultimate spy as well as the ultimate sophisticated and suave gentleman.
