Top 7 Bikini Babes of Cinema
In the annals of cinematic history, one of the most overlooked, and unappreciated, scene elements is the utilization of the bikini. I know it may sound weird, but any male over the age of 12 understands exactly what I’m talking about.
Sometimes the most memorable scenes in a flick are those that contain the lovely two-piece. They may not be the most powerful, but when you think back to the film, it’s the first destination where your memories arrive.
7. Kate Bosworth “Blue Crush”
Back when Bosworth weighted more than 80 pounds, her athletic body, plus a surfboard made her an instant addition to the list. Some would argue that another ‘Blue’ movie alum Jessica Alba (Into the Blue) outranks Bosworth, but one look at Bosworth on the long board and all debates are rendered null and void.
6. Salma Hayek “From Dusk till Dawn”
An instant classic. With the sultry music, Hayek and snake writhing as one and whiskey cascading down her thigh, it was easy to forget about the vampires. Even once she transforms later in the movie, male viewers still answered the obvious question from friends with a “Yeah, probably”.
5. Raquel Welch “One Million Years B.C.”
One of the two most beautiful prehistoric-style chicks in film history. Welch took the bikini back to its beginning, donning a suede and fur outfit that looked oh so nice. While I couldn’t tell you a thing about the film, I can tell you every stitch on her suit.
4. Linda Harrison “Planet of the Apes”
Often overlooked, Harrison will always be tops to Welch in wearing the primitive loincloth style bathing suit. The moment her brown eyes (believe me fellas her eyes are brown) flash a look at the audience and we see her beauty coupled with the suit, it’s easy to place her above Welch. I just hope nobody wants to argue the merits of Zira.
3. Ursula Andress “Dr. No”
The film may be Dr. No, but Andress’ suit is one big Hell yeah. The moment she pops out of the ocean singing, young viewers were treated to one of the most famous swimsuits in cinema history. Her little white two-piece getup with blade at the side no doubt occupied the fantasies of many young men back in 1962.
2. Carrie Fisher “Return of the Jedi”
Speaking of fantasies, none is greater in the geek world than the metal bikini Carrie Fisher donned in “Return of the Jedi”. As an eight-year-old, I went to the theater to see Luke face Vader, but came away with nothing but visions of Leia laying seductively on Jabba’s sail barge running through my mind. And to be honest, 26 years later, some things never change.
1. Phoebe Cates “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”
Tell me one guy who grew up in the 80s that didn’t lust for Phoebe Cates after watching her rise out of the water in her red suit and I’ll call him a liar. When pressed to name some of my most memorable moments in film, Cates’ is very close to the top. While it might not rank as a legendary performance, it changed the lives or at least lonely moments of a generation of adolescent males.
