Trailer Round-Up
This week's edition of the Trailer Round-Up includes Paul Walker's last completed film, Arnold Schwarzenegger continuing his cinematic comeback, a naked ScarJo, and Johnny Depp. Check out some of the newest in coming attractions for this week.
Brick Mansions
Completed before star Paul Walker's untimely death, "Brick Mansions" stars Walker as an undercover cop looking to stop the plot of a drug lord (RZA) to destroy what's left of a dystopic Detroit.
Under the Skin
This Sundance sensation is getting recognition in fanboy circles as "That Movie Where ScarJo Gets Nekkid," but Johansson is getting raves as her performance as a sex-craved alien preying on hitchhikers in Scotland. This very artsy-looking thriller opens April 4.
Sabotage (Red Band)
This action film, directed by David Ayer (who did the tremendous "End of Watch") stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and a strong supporting cast as DEA agents who hunt the most dangerous drug cartels, but who find themselves the hunted. Remember, red band = NSFW, so take caution when you watch.
Transcendence
Johnny Depp stars as an expert on artificial intelligence in this sci fi thriller about the power of technology and the thirst for knowledge...and how quickly it can become an uncontrollable lust for power.
The Purge: Anarchy
Call me crazy, but I thought "The Purge" was one of last year's unheralded surprises. A taut, fun picture that makes you think a little (but not TOO much), making a statement about our society and its bloodthirstiness. Based on this trailer, the sequel seems to be a little less subtle, delving closer to the DTV mass-marketed sequels in favor of new levels of sadism. It's art imitating life imitating art. Or something.
