Trailer Round-Up: Godzilla and Friends Edition
This week's big trailer release is the first full trailer for this year's "Godzilla" remake. The trailer has lit up the Interwebz this week and has offered tantalizing shots of the King of the Monsters heretofore unseen. But enough of my yammering...drink it in:
Godzilla
Mom's Night Out
Shifting gears a little, here's one for the soccer moms who need a night out...and why they shouldn't do that. Ever. The trailer captures the movie's sense of fun, skewing the "Hangover"-style everything-is-going-wrong film through the eyes of a mother. It looks to capture our generation of helicopter parents while rehashing the usual formula. There are some nice familiar faces and a couple of newer ones as well. Have a look:
The Lashman
Horror films come in all shapes, sizes and forms, and many of the most enjoyable are those shot on microbudgets. "The Lashman" looks to be one such film, made by Nashville, TN-based filmmaker Cameron McCasland. And while it is most likely not getting a wide theatrical release, movies of this type can often be found and watched through a minimum of effort, and sometimes, just sometimes, are well worth checking out. "The Lashman" looks to be almost a spoof of horror movies, taking on the tropes of the maniac killer, the rural bumpkin setting, and the cliche, sex-and-drugs-starved teens. This is the sort of film The Yap relishes.
The Final Member
The Penis Museum called. They're looking for donations.
No, that's not a bad joke. That's the premise of this rather squirm-inducing documentary, where men are literally lining up to add their junk to a museum devoted to all of the dongs of the wild. Lacking only a human member, the museum's owner entertains offers by men to donate their hoses to complete his collection.
Honest Trailer: 300
The always-hilarious Honest Trailers tackles the Zack Snyder flick "300" on the eve of the unnecessary, probably-really-crappy sequel. I won't waste time trying to describe this awesomeness...just behold. If you haven't seen any of these, I guarantee you'll be watching more of them.
