Vacation
The Griswolds are at it again!
When you read those words, you probably were feeling one of three things: excitement that they were bringing back a beloved franchise, fear that they would desecrate a beloved franchise, or a little of both. Also, once so many different trailers for the movie came out, you were probably thinking that they put all of the funny parts in the trailers.
I'm happy to report that you had nothing to worry about. Writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein would've made "National Lampoon's Vacation" writer John Hughes proud.
This time around, an adult Rusty Griswold decides to take his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and his two sons, Kevin and James (Steele Stebbins & Skyler Gisondo), to Walley World. Things go as well as they did the last time.
When I first found out that Ed Helms was playing Rusty, I thought that was perfect casting because of his role as Andy Bernard on "The Office." And I was right. As a matter of fact, there wasn't an unfunny performance in this movie. My stepdad said it best when he said people would be coming out of the theater with their stomachs hurting from laughing so hard. And who could blame them with the classic vacation-gone-wrong gags and the new stuff like how Kevin and James Griswold bring a hilarious new meaning to the term "sibling rivalry"? One other new thing that will get the audience's attention is Chris Hemsworth playing the world's sexiest brother in law.
The bottom line is we've been talking about the original "Vacation" for years, and we'll be talking about this one for years as well.
