Vehicle 19 (2013)
There are several exceptions that you have to make when going into an action movie. The acting probably won’t be that great and the plot might be paper-thin, but that’s not what you’re there for. You’re there, as the genre denotes, for the action.
There are several exceptions that you must make when watching a movie starring Paul Walker. He’s not going to deliver his dialogue properly. At times, his facial expressions may seemed pained, and his overall performance may come across unintentionally funny. All of that is fine because he's here to lure fans of "The Fast and the Furious," not for his acting ability.
There are several exceptions that you must make when watching a movie about cars, but above all else, you want and need the movie to be an awesome display of these vehicles’ brute muscle. This movie doesn't even give that.
If this review seems a bit redundant, I've done a good job setting up this allegory for "Vehicle 19"; this painful repetition also occurs when a car is stuck in first gear, begging desperately for an upshift. This movie is like a car with a faulty transmission that’s never able to transition into second gear. I mean, sure, your RPMs are going crazy, but nothing is really happening.
I suppose since this movie has already been put on Blu-ray/DVD, it’s too late to try and teach the filmmakers how to work the clutch and shift their gears. I’m going to let my movie review idle in first gear as well
