Director John Crowley, "Is Anybody There?"
In looking at a senior citizens’ rest home through the eyes of a little boy who lives there, John Crowley’s new film “Is Anybody There?” has an interesting challenge: create poignancy without self-importance, and humor without mocking. Somehow, with the help of actors like Michael Caine, David Morrissey and newcomer Bill Milner (”Son of Rambow"), Crowley was able to pull it off quite nicely.
In this interview Crowley discusses finding Milner just before and after "Rambow," dancing on the line between comedy and sensitivity, and how his film is like "Mary Poppins."
