The following titles are being released on Tuesday, Dec. 22, unless otherwise noted: The War With Grandpa (Blu-ray + DVD + digital) Details: 2020, Universal Studios Home Entertainment Rated: PG, rude humor, language, thematic elements The lowdown: Robert De Niro earns a paycheck in this innocuous comedy about Peter (Oakes Fegley), an average sixth grader who learns that he must give up his prized possession — his room — because his recently widowed grandfather, Ed (De Niro), is moving in with the family and will be occupying Peter’s bedroom. Naturally, Peter is upset, so he devises a series of pranks to force his grandfather out of the room. Grandpa, however, is stubborn and won’t go without a fight. An all-out war ensues as the two vie for the upper hand and rights to the room. The movie strolls through familiar territory. It’s a nice diversion, but nothing more, despite a supporting cast that includes Uma Thurman, Christopher Walken, Cheech Marin, Rob Riggle and Jane Seymour. Critics were cold to the movie, giving it a 29 percent fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes.
