Warren Beatty starred in, co-directed and co-wrote this fluffy, light-as-air romantic comedy about a football player who comes back from the dead as a sort of a proto-Forrest Gump.
I loved Heaven Can Wait. It's the kind of movie that you just play along with "the rules" as presented- as you do in any fanciful movie-"Oh God", "Bruce Almighty" "It's a Wonderful Life" etc. The fact that Joe must live on without the "memory" of his former life works well with the tone that Beatty was trying to evoke- a bittersweet ending with a bit of loss, and a bit of hope.
