Brian De Palma and David Mamet's genre masterpiece is an opera of sentiment and sadism, the story of a good man who adopts the brutish tactics of his enemy but somehow remains untouched.
I watched this movie the other day and I absolutely loved it! I can get around people critiqueing it a little but there really isn't enough evidence in the film for it to be called banal!?
I also watched this in the theater in 1987, though only once. I've seen it many times since, and can never understand anyone who considers it anything less than a masterpiece.
