Ron Howard directs this outstanding humanist epic about the real-life rescue of a Thailand soccer team starring Colin Farrell, Viggo Mortensen and Joel Edgerton.
Yw! I gave it a positive review myself here on my Substack. Amazon's releasing it in August is a disservice, but the movie is so well done it just may be remembered by some opinion shapers. I've read only a few reviews, but of the majors, Rex Reed's gives me hope. Reed understands this picture's accomplishments, which shouldn't be taken for granted. I'm not suggesting that Reed sways votes at the NYFCC, but he fights, and is listened to. If he makes a case for Thirteen Lives, I hope other critics pay attention.
A thoughtful, insightful review. I hope this astutely directed movie gets the attention it deserves during awards season.
